There were many YouTube series and programs that asked producers to create remixes quickly or with minimal tools. One such program is the Red Bull Remix Lab which offers two different types of challenges: one in which a producer receives a sample packet of ten random, unknown sounds and is asked to make a dope beat ; and another, where they come up with their own idea of what they should remix.
The latest installment is San Holo accompanied by presenter Anna Lunoe, who remixes Sufjan Stevens "Had to know better". These programs provide a unique and often invisible insight into the process of producers in the studio, and especially when they are in a difficult time or are challenged with something new and unexpected.
The episode with San takes 30 minutes, so it's really up to the producers to observe and investigate what he's doing. To hear the finished version, go to 29:50 in the video below.
