Kate Beckinsale appears on the cover of the latest issue of Women’s Health magazine, and during her cover story interview, the 46-year-old actress revealed what she thought was the secret of a happy marriage.
Beckinsale, who was married to director Len Wiseman from 2004 to 2016, says that "more people would be well married if they didn't have to live in the same house".
The Underworld star explained that it is "easy" to be married, but it is the "life with the person" that means a lot.
"I also think that it is customary for women – and this is generalizing – that we mentally subject our needs to those who are otherwise in the room," explained Beckinsale. “So if you have a husband, boyfriend, children, or parents, it's so easy to get an idea of what you want to do and then say, 'Oh no, no, no, that's good. & # 39; And it's nice not to have to negotiate that all the time. & # 39;
Beckinsale, who shares her 20-year-old daughter Lily with her ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen, has also grappled with the acquaintance of men who are much younger than her, like 26-year-old Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson ,
She said that if everyone "shits" on you, things can "make you laugh for a minute". And this is especially true if you don't do anything wrong. Beckinsale says she would understand if she "strangled a squirrel or hurt someone". But if you live your life in a respectable way, nobody should get too excited.
No matter what the public or the media think, Beckinsale will live her life the way she wants to. She explained that it feels like a political act when a woman over 32 has fun at all. Beckinsale made it clear that she wasn't talking about partying, drinking and drug use because she would never do that.
Instead, Beckinsale refers to being silly and going out instead of sitting at home and waiting for menopause to occur when crocheting.
"If you don't, it seems kind of daring, which is just ridiculous to me," Beckinsale said.
She also pointed out that she sees that many men her age go out and do what they want, whether it's a relationship, getting a tattoo, or deciding to buy a motorcycle. When it's a single man in her forties, Kate Beckinsale says that no one has ever asked why he had no children or why he has so many girlfriends.
The new edition of Women’s Health is now commercially available.
