TSR Take a moment: James "Radio" Kennedy, the mentally disabled man who inspired the film "Radio" with Cuba Gooding Jr. in the late TMZ reports that she was 73 years old.
Radio was a legend in Anderson, South Carolina, and has been the heart and soul of TL Hanna High School since the 1960s, where he participated in football games and the team often on that Field led.
His story attracted national attention back in 1996 when Sports Illustrated directed a story about him and his team by football coach Harold Jones. History later inspired the popular film to get its nickname.
Jones confirmed Kennedy's death today and said, “He was just a good man. We all loved him. We will miss him incredibly. “Kennedy was reportedly ill and had been hospitalized for some time.
He was recently transferred to a hospice facility.
Even after fame, radio was an inspiration for the city and was included in the TL Hanna Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.
We are praying for Kennedy's family at this time and for everyone affected by his death.
