It appears that Apple has an outstanding year ahead of it in AirPods. This emerges from a DigiTimes (Paywall) report, which claims that based on information from sources within the Apple supply chain, the company apparently plans to increase AirPods shipments by up to 50% by 2020.
This means that Apple could ship up to 90 million units of AirPods in 2020, a huge increase over the previous year. Now we know that shipments are not synonymous with sales, but companies typically base their shipments on the number of units that they think they can sell. There is a balance between ensuring that products are always available without having too much in stock
It remains to be seen whether Apple will actually sell so many, maybe less, or maybe even more, or not Increase in deliveries shows that the company is at least confident that it can sell AirPods.
Nevertheless, it is not surprising that the Apple is increasing its deliveries. The AirPods have been one of the company's best-selling accessories since their launch. Many praised the earphones along with their successor, the AirPods Pro. There have been rumors that an AirPods Pro Lite may even be in the works.
